February Club Day (Oakleigh)

It was finally time for the first club day of the year! It was also my first event doing Ka3 Junior! I pitted with my friends Loten Ben Yosef (Ka3 Junior #8), Jai Sparey (Ka3 Senior Light #2) and my new friend Hamish Tonkin (Ka4 Junior Heavy #28).

Qualifying
In Ka3 there was 3 competitors, Lotem, Callum Potter (#22) and I. Callum qualified 1st with a 40.787, Lotem second with a 41.162 and me 3rd with a 41.809.

Heat 1
Callum won the race, Lotem second and I third.

Heat 2
Callum won the race, Lotem second and I third.

Final
Callum won the race, Lotem second and I third. This time I hade kart problems and had no grip, I had to slow right down and almost got lapped!

Overall a fun weekend, and great for my first time in Ka3! Also, My name is still not on the wall for winning the Ka4 Junior Heavy championship from last year. Dissapointing.

Saturday practice.
I had never driven on the track until Saturday and was really exited to drive it. It took a while to get used to the track, but I really enjoyed it. David and I were both new to the track whilst Riley had driven it before.

Saturday after practice.
After practice had finished, we put the karts away and Riley left to stay away from the track. Dad set up an electronic system with the generator and we could use electricity. The club hosted dinner, a spit roast. David and his family went to get some Fish and Chips. We had a good sleep.

Sunday.
Today was the day for racing and to kick off the VCS 2018. For Qualifying, I was second out of the grid behind Hookway but sadly qualified 18th.

Heat 1
I got an ok start but at turn 2 Jabke flipped and there was a full course yellow, which means slow to a pace behind the leader in single file. I finished the race 15th, 9.665 seconds behind the winner (Hookway).

Heat 2
I got another ok start and had a pretty good race, ending 16th.

Final
At the start I ran really wide and nearly collected Davies whom spun at turn 1 and almost passed A. Ryan at turn 2. It was an eventful race, and I finished 13th.

A really fun weekend overall and also learning a lot.
