It was time for the third round of the VCS 2018. It was not long after Ballarat (Round 2) but much longer in distance. I got a day off school on Friday (Score!) and we arrived at 5:30. Saturday.
There were 3 practice sessions and 1 Qualifying session today. We learned the track and played with setup in practice and in qualifying broke through with 10th! I was really happy with that. (Order of competitors is qualifying results)
Sunday.
Heat 1.
In heat 1 I got a good start into 8th but then taken out on turn 1 which put me back to 18th, but I climbed back to 15th.
Heat 2.
For heat 2 I started 14th and got to 13th off the start but I got passed and was 16th by lap 2. On lap 6, Jay's tyre came off and I had to surf the grass to avoid it. My transponder missed the sector split, missing the lap. Timing wise, I ended 22nd but was corrected to 17th.
Final.
I started 18th for the final and steadily climbed to 10th with a pass every lap until lap 8 where I stayed until lap 12 where Joel Johnson (whom was taken out on lap one and is a very quick driver) passed me and I finished 11th. I was then put to 10th after someone got a penalty.
Overall, a fun weekend, great track and fin socialising with my mates.

Todd Road April Club Day
This event marked 1 year of me racing. This was also my first event at Todd Road. I was racing in Ka4 Junior Heavy with Ben Taylor #22, Ben Moss #11, Johnny Hill #88 and Cooper Fletcher #92p. We had carby issues for the event which was dissapointing. Huge thank you to Mark Johnstone from Anarchy Kartsport for lending me his carby for heat 3 and the final. The heats were 8 laps and the final 9.
For Qualifying, I was trying to tune the carby but I couldn't get it right. I Qualified 4th.
For Heat 1, We still had carby problems but Igot a good start and got to 3rd until Ben Moss passed me on lap 2. Finished 4th.
For Heat 2, I still had carby problems and I finished 4th.
For Heat 3, I now had Mark's carby on and I got a great start and got into 2nd! Looking at the footage, I should and could of gone for 1st. I stayed 2nd until lap 3 Where Ben Taylor passed me and then lap 5 where Ben Moss passed me.
For the Final, I started 4th and got into 3rd off the start and stayed there until lap 2 where Johnny passed me. Ben T came in underweight but the officials didn't notice.
Overall, it was a good weekend, I was pitting with Toby Waghorn (#84 Jnr. Light) and for some reason had to run #8 instead of #18.

Victorian Country Series 2018 - Round 2 Haddon (Ballarat Kart Club)
It was time for the second round of the country series in 2018. I went for a practice on Easter weekend in preparation for the event. I am not a huge fan of the track mainly because of the kerbs, bumpy surface and turn 2 having a dirt trap rather than a gravel trap. We had 25 entries, 1 over the track density which is a problem. I raced in group B for the weekend, therefore participating in 2/3 heat 2 and 2/3 heat 3, as well as making the final.
Entries:
Riley JABKE 44
Keean FERGUSON 46
Samuel DAVIES 10
Joel JOHNSON 5

Zaiden BARRY 24
Winston SMITH 26
Taylah ALLEN 62P
Hamish ALLAN 21
Joshua HORDER 66
Qualifying
I qualified 14th which meant I started 9th and 10th. I was on track behind Keean which made me not go as hard due to him battling with Zaiden and me wanting to leave space.
Heat 1
In heat 1 I started 9th but dropped to 10th due to Ben Moss getting a better start and stayed there until lap 2 where i ran wide at turn 2 dropping to 11th.
Heat 2
I started 10th but dropped 2 spots off the start putting me in 12th and thats where I finished. Towards the end I got a hole in my fuel line and was lucky to finish.
Final
I started 17th for the final but I dropped to 19th off the start and had carby issues all race, unable to defend or race hard. I managed to stay in 19th until lap 8 where Keean was stopped and just getting going again, and then passed by Noah on lap 11 and was back in 19th until lap 13 where Keean got me back and I ended 20th.
Overall, it was an ok weekend, I was pitted with Jai Sparey (Ka3 Senior Light) John Reynolds (Ka3 Senior Medium, Lotem Ben Yosef and Kai Upiter (Ka3 Junior). I spent time with Toby Waghorn (Ka4 Junior Light) as well.
A good weekend but looking to redeem myself at Round 3.
