It was the last race of the year! I was determined to win.
Competitors:
#72 Samuel Gibson
#18 Braden Clark (Me)
#44 Riley Jabke
#4 Liam Pollard
#3 Maximus Cudasko
Qualifying
Qualified 2nd (like ive done every damn time at this track in heavy this year)
Heat 1
Leading until lap 9 when I got passed by Sam and Riley followed
Heat 2
Was following Samuel until I got bombed and ran off the track. Ended 3rd.
Heat 3
I was leading until The guy in 3rd went for the lead and completely t-boned me. Ended 3rd, But got disqualified for hitting his kart into the pits. (Stupid of me)
Final
Starting last, I was determined to win. I got to 4th off the start, got to 3rd at the dipper, and was 3rd at the end of the first lap. I got to 2nd on lap 5, and only had 1 more spot left. I went for it on lap 8 at JSKC, but he went along side me and tried to run me off. I got my nosecone stuck in his rear bumper, and held it flat on the grass inside his rear bumper all the way to Tony Kart. I dropped to 3rd, Had to catch up for a third time, but once I caught up they collided at Tony Kart, and I got the win. SUPER HAPPY!
Was a great weekend at the end, and with dampness and very light rain on slicks, it was so good to drive.
Bring on Top Guns!

GEELONG JUNIOR CHALLENGE
After the hard luck in the past few races, I was really hoping for a great result, maybe even a win!
We pitted with our good mate Liam Pollard doing Heavy C+D, since we were effectively in the same class we shared some times and small pieces of info.
List of Competitors at the end because it is the final result! (Please don't just skip to it)
Qualifying:
I qualified 5th with a 35:063! Pole: 34:716. Really happy with this result.
Heat 1:
I stayed 5th all race, but I had people right in front of me and right behind me. Finished 4th due to a disqualification.
Heat 2:
Finished 5th again but no easier than the last race.
Heat 3:
Got into 3rd for laps 2-4 but dropped back to 5th.
Final:
I got a great start and got into 3rd! Could of stayed with the leaders but chose to defend a small amount resulting in me losing a bit of time. I had an EXCELLENT battle with Winston Smith and Bastian Mullan (AMAZING job guys), and I came out the best and finished 3rd! So fun!
Great result, great fun weekend and looking forward to class titles!

ELKC Junior Sprint

Qualifying
I qualified 12th out of 16, but this was with carby issues again.
Heat 1
I finished 10th in heat 1, still with carby issues. Got a good start into 6th but slowly dropped back.
Heat 2
For Heat 2 I started 12th again. I got to seventh on the start, but got passed on lap 2. It was a fun race, still with carby issues. Even then, I was only 3 seconds behind the leader! I still cant believe that 1st to 8th can be 3 seconds!
Heat 3
In heat 3 is started 9th. I still had carby issues, I finished 10th this time.
Heat 4
Heat 4 was easily the most fun race, I started and finished 7th this time, having great battles throughout! I was in 6th most of the race, making a move on lap 2 and getting passed on the second last lap. 5th, 6th and 7th were all so close, within half a second! Still with the carby issues.
Final
Starting 7th, I was really determined to get to 5th. I got a great start, into 4th! but at turn 2, there was a stack and I came out in 14th, dropping 10 positions! I climbed back to 11th by lap 5, but there was a massive gap to 10th. I caught up on lap 7, I was held up and went for a move but I was clearly turned in on, and dropped back to 14th and finished there.
Overall a fun weekend, would of liked to do much better in the final, but I had a great time pitting with Toby Waghorn, and having a bit of a chat with Samuel Davies. On to Portland!

ELKC September club day
Just a short one this time - The Puckapunyal September Club Day in preparation for the junior sprint. I managed to Qualify on pole which was great!
I had carby issues for the rest of the day, I finished last in all the races but 3rd in the final when someone got taken out.
Great for practising the track though.

Victorian Country Series Round 5 - Hamilton
It was finally time to go back to my favourite track! The Hamilton track provides lots of big kerbs, carrying speed everywhere! We stayed at Bea's Studio in Hamilton. It was really good and had a King Size bed.

Nick Sacco (#80 KA4 Junior Light) and Cadel Taylor (#8p Cadet 9) were with us some of the time. I also was with James Snaith (#11 Cadet 12), as well as Jay Racovalis (KA4 Junior Heavy #99) and Joshua Clay (KA4 Junior Heavy #61p). This was Josh's first race being the only Junior driver in Hamilton and they don't run and club days.

Sunday
Heat 1.
Heat 1 was a really fun race despite the result. I dropped to 9th by the end of lap 1. I was battling with Lachlan, Aidan and Nick throughout the race, and I was right on their tail until lap 7 when I finally got past Lachlan and was working on getting by Aidan when Nick bombed me on the last lap at turn 4. Really fun race, finished 10th.
Heat 2.
Starting 10th, I got to 8th by lap 1 and 6th by lap 2. Jay passed me mid lap 2, and was stuck there until lap 5 where Nick got me and I got Jay a lap later. Alex passed me the next lap, and finished there in 8th.
Final.
About 2 mins before the race began, it absolutely pelted down all of a sudden and no one knew it because the radar did not pick it up. We got given 5 mins to change setup, and thanks to Toby for helping us, we got the airbox cover, wet tyres and brought the fronts out. We left when some were still on the trolley and some on slicks. I was starting 9th, and by the time everyone got out we had used an extra roll around lap. I got into 4th by the end of lap 1, and got into 3rd by lap 7 where Aidan spun of infront of me. Mid lap 7, I got hit side on and dropped to 5th. the next lap I dropped another 2 spots. Ended 7th. I felt that I should of been 3rd.
Overall a really fun weekend, my next race will be the Puckapunyal club day in preparation for the Junior Sprint Classic. Right after the Junior Sprint, DPE VCS Round 6 will be held at Portland.
May upload all the full races.

Oakleigh August Club Day
Time for another club day, this time at Oakleigh; haven't raced heavy here since top guns. Should be a fun weekend.
We later found that the carby had a crack in it, so that was something.
Competitors:
Liam Pollard #4
Jakob Searles #17
Braden Clark #18 [Me]
Riley Jabke #44
Qualifying
I Qualified 2nd with a cracked carby, only a 42:90 which was 0.222 seconds off.
Heat 1
A pass off the start and I won, second win ever, still with a cracked carby.
Heat 2
Lead until the last lap when I got bombed at the last second, still with a cracked carby.
Heat 3
NIGHT RACING
Rubbish start, dropped to 3rd by the end of the 1st lap. Coming into the Carousel the leader slowed up causing me to bump in to second and almost spin him. Chose not to speed off. I passed second and we worked on catching the leader, soon doing so and I passed him, then he pushed me straight off the track. Dropped back to third and finished there.
Final
We borrowed a carby from Dean & Jai Sparey, thank you to them.
I won by half a lap or something.
Did a 43:188 in dark, damp conditions.
Results:
1st: Braden Clark #18 [Me]
2nd: Hamish Tonkin #28
3rd: Riley Jabke #44
4th: Jakob Searles #17
5th: Liam Pollard #4 [Sadly dropped a chain on the last lap at the carousel]

This was an awesome weekend, and I dont care if I came 4th or 5th, just to finally be up where I should is good enough for me. I am really looking forward to Hamilton (VCS R5) and the Australasian Titles (Red Plate). Thank you to everyone who supported me!

Saturday.
There were 3 practice sessions and 1 Qualifying session today. We learned the track and played with setup in practice and in qualifying broke through with 10th! I was really happy with that. (Order of competitors is qualifying results)
Sunday.
Heat 1.
In heat 1 I got a good start into 8th but then taken out on turn 1 which put me back to 18th, but I climbed back to 15th.
Heat 2.
For heat 2 I started 14th and got to 13th off the start but I got passed and was 16th by lap 2. On lap 6, Jay's tyre came off and I had to surf the grass to avoid it. My transponder missed the sector split, missing the lap. Timing wise, I ended 22nd but was corrected to 17th.
Final.
I started 18th for the final and steadily climbed to 10th with a pass every lap until lap 8 where I stayed until lap 12 where Joel Johnson (whom was taken out on lap one and is a very quick driver) passed me and I finished 11th. I was then put to 10th after someone got a penalty.
Overall, a fun weekend, great track and fin socialising with my mates.

Todd Road April Club Day
This event marked 1 year of me racing. This was also my first event at Todd Road. I was racing in Ka4 Junior Heavy with Ben Taylor #22, Ben Moss #11, Johnny Hill #88 and Cooper Fletcher #92p. We had carby issues for the event which was dissapointing. Huge thank you to Mark Johnstone from Anarchy Kartsport for lending me his carby for heat 3 and the final. The heats were 8 laps and the final 9.
For Qualifying, I was trying to tune the carby but I couldn't get it right. I Qualified 4th.
For Heat 1, We still had carby problems but Igot a good start and got to 3rd until Ben Moss passed me on lap 2. Finished 4th.
For Heat 2, I still had carby problems and I finished 4th.
For Heat 3, I now had Mark's carby on and I got a great start and got into 2nd! Looking at the footage, I should and could of gone for 1st. I stayed 2nd until lap 3 Where Ben Taylor passed me and then lap 5 where Ben Moss passed me.
For the Final, I started 4th and got into 3rd off the start and stayed there until lap 2 where Johnny passed me. Ben T came in underweight but the officials didn't notice.
Overall, it was a good weekend, I was pitting with Toby Waghorn (#84 Jnr. Light) and for some reason had to run #8 instead of #18.

Victorian Country Series 2018 - Round 2 Haddon (Ballarat Kart Club)
It was time for the second round of the country series in 2018. I went for a practice on Easter weekend in preparation for the event. I am not a huge fan of the track mainly because of the kerbs, bumpy surface and turn 2 having a dirt trap rather than a gravel trap. We had 25 entries, 1 over the track density which is a problem. I raced in group B for the weekend, therefore participating in 2/3 heat 2 and 2/3 heat 3, as well as making the final.
Entries:
Riley JABKE 44
Keean FERGUSON 46
Samuel DAVIES 10
Joel JOHNSON 5
Daniel GOLIGHTLY 6
Maximus FAHEY 71
Daniel HOOKWAY 95

Zaiden BARRY 24
Winston SMITH 26
Taylah ALLEN 62P
Hamish ALLAN 21
Joshua HORDER 66
Qualifying
I qualified 14th which meant I started 9th and 10th. I was on track behind Keean which made me not go as hard due to him battling with Zaiden and me wanting to leave space.
Heat 1
In heat 1 I started 9th but dropped to 10th due to Ben Moss getting a better start and stayed there until lap 2 where i ran wide at turn 2 dropping to 11th.
Heat 2
I started 10th but dropped 2 spots off the start putting me in 12th and thats where I finished. Towards the end I got a hole in my fuel line and was lucky to finish.
Final
I started 17th for the final but I dropped to 19th off the start and had carby issues all race, unable to defend or race hard. I managed to stay in 19th until lap 8 where Keean was stopped and just getting going again, and then passed by Noah on lap 11 and was back in 19th until lap 13 where Keean got me back and I ended 20th.
Overall, it was an ok weekend, I was pitted with Jai Sparey (Ka3 Senior Light) John Reynolds (Ka3 Senior Medium, Lotem Ben Yosef and Kai Upiter (Ka3 Junior). I spent time with Toby Waghorn (Ka4 Junior Light) as well.
A good weekend but looking to redeem myself at Round 3.

Saturday practice.
I had never driven on the track until Saturday and was really exited to drive it. It took a while to get used to the track, but I really enjoyed it. David and I were both new to the track whilst Riley had driven it before.
Saturday after practice.
After practice had finished, we put the karts away and Riley left to stay away from the track. Dad set up an electronic system with the generator and we could use electricity. The club hosted dinner, a spit roast. David and his family went to get some Fish and Chips. We had a good sleep.
Sunday.
Today was the day for racing and to kick off the VCS 2018. For Qualifying, I was second out of the grid behind Hookway but sadly qualified 18th.
Heat 1
I got an ok start but at turn 2 Jabke flipped and there was a full course yellow, which means slow to a pace behind the leader in single file. I finished the race 15th, 9.665 seconds behind the winner (Hookway).
Heat 2
I got another ok start and had a pretty good race, ending 16th.
Final
At the start I ran really wide and nearly collected Davies whom spun at turn 1 and almost passed A. Ryan at turn 2. It was an eventful race, and I finished 13th.
A really fun weekend overall and also learning a lot.

happy with that.
Results: 12, 18, 44, 22,

Heat 1 (14 laps)
I got a great start and into the lead! It
was the first time I have ever lead a kart race. Unfortunately,
I spun it on jskc and went back to last. I managed to get back to 3rd.

28, 55, 23
Final (12 laps)
I got a bad start and let 1st and 3rd through
on arrow but then got swamped on jskc and put to last. I was racing
hard to get back to position and managed to get to third until someone in a Corsa smashed
into me, pushing me off and out of a podium. Finished 4th.

28, 23, 18, 55, 22, 44

Heat 2
In heat 2 we had a performance loss and was unable
to keep up with riley or Bastian. I finished 4th. I would have
been 3rd but the marshal missed the flag end and I got put to 4th from the
lap when it should have ended. Always race to the flag.
Results: 23,
44, 55, 18, 22, 24, 12, 28
